Meter Dose Inhalers (MDI)
Overview
Overview
Meter Dose Inhalers or MDI are devices that deliver a specific amount of medication to the lungs, in the form of aerosolized medicine via inhalation.
It is most commonly used for the treatment of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other respiratory diseases. The medication in a metered dose inhaler is most commonly a bronchodilator, corticosteroid, or a combination of both for the treatment of asthma and COPD.
This is a critical application: the particles have to be micronized to make sure they get to the pulmonary alveoli to guarantee the product's efficacy.
Olsa guarantees this result, thanks to a specific design of our homogenizers.
Olsa also developed a specific automation software and plant configuration for batch production and for the finish product to be transferred to the filling machine in a single or double stage.
For some particular applications, we can provide high containment for both active ingredients and finished product or guarantee that the equipment and product are completely anhydrous.
