Syrups and suspensions

Syrups are pharmaceutical or medicinal liquid preparations consisting of water and sugar (or sugar substitutes) along with active ingredients, dissolved into a solvent. They are typically used for oral administration and are sweetened to make them palatable. The amount of sugar that must be loaded inside the tank can be very high, so really difficult to dissolve.

Suspensions are liquid pharmaceutical formulations containing solid insoluble particles that are finely dispersed throughout the liquid phase. Key challenges in this formulation lie in achieving the optimal particle dispersion and ensuring batch homogeneity.


Olsa has developed a specific design for preparation vessels used for this application, complete with bespoke agitators, featuring additional components like sugar blenders, pneumatic conveyors, or vacuum induction systems.

Moreover, the system highly flexible configuration is designed to reduce production time, shorten Clean-In-Place (CIP) cycles, minimize water or chemicals consumption, and enhance overall production efficiency.
